अदालत में एक वकील से आपने सबसे खराब तर्क क्या सुना है?
एक बार सेशन कोर्ट में एक वकील साहब बड़े जोर शोर से एक हत्या के प्रयास यानी 307 इंडियन पीनल कोड के मामले में बहस कर रहे थे। कोर्ट में बहुत भीड़ थी हम भी अपनी बारी के इंतेज़ार में कुर्सी पर बैठे थे। जज साहब भी जरूरी फ़ाइल निपटा रहे थे, तथा बीच-बीच में जज साहब कभी-कभी वकील साहब की बहस भी सुन रहे थे।
अचानक से वो वकील साहब ज़ोर-ज़ोर से रोने लगे। अदालत में जैसे सन्नाटा छा गया। जज साहब और हम साथी वकीलो ने उनको चुप कराते हुए रोने की वजह पूछी तो वो रोते हुए जज साहब से बोले, मुझे पता है आप मेरे क्लाइंट को उसकी पत्नी की हत्या करने के प्रयास में सज़ा दोंगे, परंतु आप शायद नही जानते कि एक मजबूर बे सहारा आदमी को कैसे हर रोज़ उसकी पत्नी कितना परेशान करती है, आदमी के पास कोई रास्ता ही नही रह जाता, उसको दो में से एक रास्ता चुनना ही पड़ता है, या तो वो खुद मर जाए या पत्नी को मार दे। इसलिए मेरे क्लाइंट ने जो किया वो मेरी समझ में सही किया। और मैं रोया इसलिए क्योंकि इसने तो पत्नी से बदला ले लिया परंतु मै पिछले 30 साल से एक आवाज़ नही निकाल पाया अपनी पत्नी के खिलाफ। इसलिए जज साहब आपसे प्रार्थना करता हूँ मेरे क्लाइंट को रिहा कर दिया जाए।
अब जनाब कोर्ट तो कोर्ट है भावनाये वहाँ चलती नही और वकील साहब भावनाओ में बहकर अपने क्लाइंट को खुद ही दोषी ठहरा चुके थे। हमको भी पता था कि अब उनके क्लाइंट को सज़ा जरूर होगी। और जैसा हमने सोचा था सज़ा हुई भी।
अब उन वकील साहब के क्लाइंट और उससे ज्यादा उनकी पत्नी के जुल्मो की चर्चा अदालत के बाहर वकीलो में होती रहती थी। मगर उनके अपनी परेशानी के सार्वजनिक करने से उनकी मदद को बहुत से वकील आगे आये और कुछ लेडी वकीलो ने हर हफ्ते उनके घर जाकर उनकी पत्नी की खबर लेनी शुरू की तो उनकी पत्नी ने उनको दुखी करना बंद कर दिया।
उनकी गलती से क्लाइंट को तो सज़ा हुई परंतु बाद में उस क्लाइंट की अपील भी हाई कोर्ट में मंजूर हो गई और वो ज़मानत पर छूट गया।

Now sir, the court is the court, feelings do not run there and the lawyer sahib had himself blamed his client by getting carried away by the feelings. We also knew that now his client will definitely be punished. And as we thought the punishment was done.
Now the atrocities of the clients of those lawyers and more than that of his wife used to be discussed in the lawyers outside the court. But after making his own problems public, many lawyers came forward to help him and some lady lawyers started going to his house every week to get the news of his wife, then his wife stopped hurting him.
The client was punished due to his mistake, but later that client's appeal was also approved in the High Court and he was released on bail.
