एक समय की बात है कहा जाता है एक बार श्री जगन्नाथ जी ने वृंदावन में रहने वाले अपने भक्त श्री हरिदास जी को स्वपन में दर्शन देते हुए कहा – भक्त हरिदास उठो । श्री हरिदास जी उठ कर बैठ गए । परंतु उनके नेत्र बंद थे । क्योंकि वह नींद में थे । भगवान जगन्नाथ जी ने कहा– भक्त हरिदास, तुम यहां वृंदावन में बहुत समय से मेरी भक्ति करते आ रहे हो । हमारी इच्छा है कि आप जगन्नाथ पुरी दर्शन करने आए । वहां पर इस वर्ष मेरा विग्रह परिवर्तित किया जाएगा जो 36 वर्षों में एक बार परिवर्तित किया जाता है ।जगन्नाथ पुरी का यही नियम है 36 वर्षों में एक समय पर श्री जगन्नाथ जी की मूर्तियों का विग्रह परिवर्तित करने उन्हे नए विग्रह में स्थापित किया जाता है । तब भगवान ने आदेश दिया यह समय आने वाला है । आषाढ़ का महीना है आप वहां पहुंचे । आप वहां पहुंचकर मेरा पुराना विग्रह है जो समुंदर में बहाया जाता है उसे इस बार आप अपने साथ वृंदावन लेकर आइएगा ।क्योंकि मैं भी वृंदावन रहकर भक्तों के साथ जीवन यापन करना चाहता हूं ।भगवान यह कहकर स्वपन में ही अंतर्ध्यान हो गए । अगली सुबह भगवान का आदेश मानकर श्री हरिदास जी भक्तों को साथ लेकर यात्रा पर निकल गए । धीरे-धीरे भजन सिमरन करते हुए श्री हरिदास जी वृंदावन से जगन्नाथपुरी पहुंचे । जगन्नाथपुरी में सबको पता चला हरिदास जी आए हैं तो उनकी प्रसन्नता का ठिकाना न रहा । श्री हरिदास जी ने भगवान जगन्नाथ के दर्शन किए । अगले दिन भगवान जगन्नाथ के विग्रह को परिवर्तित करना था । तो भक्त हरिदास ने एक पंडित जी से पूछा कि जो पंडित जी विग्रह को परिवर्तित करते हैं मुझे उनसे मिलना है । पंडित ने कहा यहां तो एक बड़े पुजारी हैं वह विग्रह को परिवर्तित करते हैं । उस समय सब का प्रवेश मंदिर में वर्जित है । आप भी अंदर नहीं जा सकते हैं । श्री हरिदास जी ने कहा मुझे अंदर नहीं जाना है , मुझे तो भगवान के श्री विग्रह को अपने साथ लेकर जाना है ।उनकी यह बात सुनकर वह पंडित कहने लगा अरे संत जी यह क्या कहते हो । यह तो अपराध है यहां जो विग्रह बाहर निकाला जाता है उसे समुद्र में बहा दिया जाता है । उसे समुंदर देवता अपने साथ अपने स्थान पर लेकर जाते हैं । आप ऐसी बात किसी से मत कह देना ।अन्यथा लोग आप पर क्रोधित हो जाएंगे । अब भक्त जी को तो भगवान की आज्ञा हुई थी वह उस बड़े पंडित के पास पहुंचे उससे भी वही बात बताई।वह पंडित भी बड़ा क्रोधित होकर कहने लगा ।यह कैसी अनाप-शनाप बातें करते हो भगवान का विग्रह अपने साथ नहीं लेकर जा सकते हो । तब एक सेवक ने श्री हरिदास जी को कहा ये पंडित जी आपकी बात नहीं समझेंगे । आप जगन्नाथ पुरी के राजा के पास जाकर सारी बात बताइए । अब हरिदास जी भक्तों के साथ राजा के महल में पहुंचे । राजा ने उठकर श्री हरिदास जी को सम्मान देते हुए प्रणाम किया ।राजा का प्रणाम स्वीकार कर भक्त हरिदास जी कहने लगे हे राजन , आप जगन्नाथपुरी के सेवक हैं । मुझे भगवान का आदेश प्राप्त हुआ है कि इस बार जो भगवान जगन्नाथ जी का श्री विग्रह परिवर्तित किया जाएगा । तो पुराना विग्रह को मैं अपने साथ वृंदावन धाम लेकर जाऊं । उनकी यह बात सुनकर राजा को क्रोध आ गया । राजा कहने लगा यह कैसी बातें करते हैं ।अनादि काल से यह परंपरा चलती आ रही है जो भगवान का पुराना विग्रह है उसे समुद्र में प्रवाहित किया जाता है । किसी व्यक्ति विशेष को देने का अधिकार हमारे पास नहीं है ।हम तो उसी परंपरा का पालन करते आ रहे हैं ।इस प्रकार राजा ने भक्त हरिदास को पुराना विग्रह देने से मना कर दिया । भक्त हरिदास अपने भक्तों के साथ अन्न और जल को त्याग कर समुद्र किनारे बैठ गए । वें परमात्मा को उलाहना देते हुए कहने लगे – हे प्रभु, विचित्र लीला करते हो मुझे यहां बुलाया है ,मेरे साथ चलने के लिए और अब यहां से चलने को तैयार नहीं हो । आपके मन में इच्छा है आप वृंदावन में निवास करना चाहते हैं और मैं आपको लेने आया हूं । तो यहां राजा आपका विग्रह देने को तैयार नहीं है । आपकी जैसी इच्छा हो वैसा ही किया जाएगा ।मैं तो क्या कर सकता हूं । तो कुछ भक्तों ने कहा महाराज आप आज्ञा दे तो हम विग्रह की चोरी कर ले । भक्त हरिदास जी कहने लगे अरे अरे, ऐसा पाप ना करना भगवान चलने को तैयार हैं तो हम चोरी क्यों करें ।जब भगवान की इच्छा होगी तब चलेंगे । रात्रि के समय जब राजा अपने शयनकक्ष में आराम कर रहा था तब परमात्मा की एक आवाज सुनाई दी ।परमात्मा ने राजा को उठाते हुए कहा राजन, तुमने बड़ा अपराध किया है ।मेरे भक्त पर क्रोध किया है ।वह तो मेरी आज्ञा से मेरा श्री विग्रह लेने के लिए आए थे ।तुमने उन्हें नाराज करके बड़ा अपराध किया है ।भगवान की यह बात सुनकर राजा कहने लगा भगवन मुझे आज्ञा दो ,मुझे क्या करना चाहिए ? जैसे आप कहेंगे मैं वैसा ही करने को तैयार हूं । मैं तो बहुत समय से यह परंपरा देखता आ रहा हूं जो पुराना विग्रह है उसे समुंदर में प्रवाहित किया जाता है मैं आपकी आज्ञा के बिना श्री हरिदास जी को कैसे उसे दे सकता था । तब भगवान ने प्रसन्न होते हुए कहा हे राजन वह मेरा ही भक्त है मेरी आज्ञा से ही वृंदावन से चलकर यहां तक आया है ।आप अच्छी सी व्यवस्था कर मेरे श्री विग्रह को रथ में बैठा दो । जिससे वह आराम से मेरे विग्रह को लेकर वृंदावन जा सके ।अब भगवान की आज्ञा से प्रातः काल राजा ने मंत्रियों को आदेश दिया । जल्दी से भक्त हरिदास जी को खोज कर मेरे राज महल में लेकर आओ । मैं उनसे मिलना चाहता हूं ।अब राजा की आज्ञा मानकर राजा के मंत्री भक्त हरिदास जी को खोजने के लिए सारे शहर में निकल गए । किसी ने आकर बताया कि भक्त हरिदास जी समुंदर के किनारे बैठे हैं । आप स्वयं चलकर उनका सम्मान कीजिए क्योंकि आप को भगवान का आदेश प्राप्त हुआ है ।कहा जाता है भगवान की आज्ञा पाकर और संत जी की खबर सुनकर राजा स्वयं समुंदर के किनारे आए ।भक्त हरिदास जी को देखकर जगन्नाथ पुरी के राजा प्रसन्न हो गए ।उन्हें अपना स्वपन सुनाते हुए कहा हरिदास जी कल रात्रि के समय मुझे भगवान का आदेश हुआ है । वे अपनी इच्छा से आपके साथ वृंदावन चलना चाहते हैं ।आप जैसा कहेंगे वैसी व्यवस्था आपको करके दी जाएगी ।यह बात सुनकर भक्त हरिदास जी प्रसन्न हो गए उनकी आंखों से आंसू बहने लगे । भक्त जी को रोता हुआ देखकर राजा कहने लगा महाराज मुझसे कोई अपराध हुआ है क्या, आप रो क्यों रहे हो ? तब हरिदास जी कहने लगे , मैं भगवान की करुणा पर रो रहा हूं वे कितने दयालु हैं , मेरे साथ चलने के लिए उन्होंने रात्रि मे जाकर तुम्हें आदेश दिया है । अब तो सारे जगन्नाथपुरी में भक्त हरिदास जी की जय जयकार होने लगी ।जब समय आया , मूर्तियों का परिवर्तन किया गया जो पुराना श्री विग्रह था वो जाकर श्री हरिदास जी को सोपते हुए ,राजा ने कहा – महाराज यह लीजिए जगन्नाथ जी, इन्हें संभाल कर आप अपने साथ पर लेकर जाइएगा । कहा जाता है श्री हरिदास जी अपने साथ भगवान जगन्नाथ जी को रथ में बैठा कर जैसे ही वहां से प्रस्थान करने लगे , वैसे तो जगन्नाथपुरी से वृंदावन आने में कम से कम 8 महीने लग जाते है पर परमात्मा ने एक विचित्र लीला की , जैसे ही रात गुजरी , रात्रि समाप्त होते ही प्रातः काल सारे भक्त विग्रह के साथ श्री हरिदास जी के समीप वृंदावन में उपस्थित थे । यह देखकर सब हैरान हो गए ।हम एक रात्रि में जगन्नाथ पुरी से वृंदावन कैसे पहुंच गए ? श्री हरिदास जी ने कहा यह सब परमात्मा की लीला है उनकी लीला से यह सब हो पा रहा है । कहा जाता है भगवान जगन्नाथ के आदेश से श्री हरिदास जी ने यमुना नदी के निकट जगन्नाथ घाट पर भगवान श्री जगन्नाथ का एक विशाल मंदिर स्थापित किया । अभी तक वह मंदिर वृंदावन में स्थापित है वहां पर जो श्री विग्रह स्थापित किए गए हैं जिनका दर्शन हमें प्राप्त होता है भगवान स्वयं जगन्नाथ पुरी से वृंदावन आए थे ।
How did Lord Jagannath reach Vrindavan?
Once upon a time, it is said that Shri Jagannath ji, while giving darshan to his devotee Shri Haridas ji living in Vrindavan, said in a dream – Arise devotee Haridas. Shri Haridas ji got up and sat down. But his eyes were closed. Because he was sleeping. Lord Jagannath ji said – Bhakta Haridas, you have been doing my devotion here in Vrindavan for a long time. We wish that you come to visit Jagannath Puri. There my Deity will be changed this year which is changed once in 36 years. This is the rule of Jagannath Puri. Once in 36 years, the idols of Shri Jagannath ji are converted into a new Deity. Then God ordered, this time is about to come. It is the month of Ashadh, you have reached there. After reaching there, my old deity which is shed in the sea, this time you will bring it with you to Vrindavan. Because I also want to live in Vrindavan and live with the devotees. The Lord lost his mind by saying this. The next morning, following the orders of the Lord, Shri Haridas ji went on a journey with the devotees. Shri Haridas ji reached Jagannathpuri from Vrindavan while slowly performing Bhajan Simran. When everyone came to know that Haridas ji has come to Jagannathpuri, his happiness knew no bounds. Shri Haridas ji had darshan of Lord Jagannath. The next day the Deity of Lord Jagannath was to be changed. So the devotee Haridas asked a Panditji that I want to meet the Panditji who converts the Deity. The Pandit said that there is a big priest here, he converts the Deity. At that time everyone's entry is prohibited in the temple. You can't even go inside. Shri Haridas ji said that I do not have to go inside, I have to take the Deity of God with me. Hearing this, the pundit started saying hey saint, what do you say. It is a crime that the Deity which is taken out here is thrown into the sea. The sea gods take him with them to their place. Do not tell such a thing to anyone. Otherwise people will get angry with you. Now the devotee had the permission of God, he reached to that big pundit and told the same thing to him. That pundit also got very angry and started saying. . Then a servant said to Shri Haridas ji, this Pandit ji will not understand your point. You go to the Raja of Jagannath Puri and tell the whole thing. Now Haridas ji reached the king's palace with the devotees. The king got up and paid his respects to Shri Haridas ji. After accepting the king's salute, the devotee Haridas ji started saying, O Rajan, you are the servant of Jagannathpuri. I have received God's order that this time the deity of Lord Jagannath ji will be changed. So let me take the old Deity with me to the abode of Vrindavan. Hearing this, the king got angry. The king started saying how do they talk. This tradition has been going on since time immemorial, which is the old Deity of God, it is flown in the sea. We do not have the right to give to any particular person. We have been following the same tradition. Thus the king refused to give the old deity to the devotee Haridas. Devotee Haridas, along with his devotees, gave up food and water and sat on the sea shore. He started blaming God and said - Oh Lord, you have called me here, doing strange leela, to go with me and now you are not ready to walk from here. There is a desire in your mind that you want to reside in Vrindavan and I have come to take you. So here the king is not ready to give your grace. It will be done as you wish. What can I do? So some devotees said, Maharaj, if you give permission, then we should steal the Deity. Devotee Haridas ji started saying oh hey, God is ready to walk not to commit such a sin, then why should we steal. When God wills then we will walk. During the night, when the king was resting in his bedroom, a voice of God was heard. God raised the king and said, Rajan, you have committed a great crime. You have angered my devotee. That is my deity by my orders. Came to take them. You have committed a big crime by making them angry. Hearing this, the king started saying God, give me orders, what should I do? I am ready to do as you say. I have been seeing this tradition for a long time, which is an old deity, it is flown in the sea, how could I give it to Shri Haridas ji without your permission. Then God was pleased and said, O Rajan, he is my devotee and has come here from Vrindavan by my permission. Make good arrangements and put my Shri Deity in the chariot. So that he can comfortably take my Deity to Vrindavan. Quickly find the devotee Haridas ji and bring him to my palace. I want to meet him. Now obeying the orders of the king, the ministers of the king went out all over the city to find Bhakta Haridas ji. Someone came and told that the devotee Haridas ji is sitting by the seashore. Walk yourself and respect them because you have received the orders of God. It is said that after receiving the orders of God and hearing the news of the saint, the king himself came to the seashore. Seeing the devotee Haridas ji, the king of Jagannath Puri was pleased. While narrating his dream, said Haridas ji last night At the time of death I have got the order of God. They want to go to Vrindavan with you of their own free will. As you say, such arrangements will be given to you. Hearing this, Bhakta Haridas ji was pleased, tears started flowing from his eyes. Seeing the devotee crying, the king started saying, 'Maharaj, have I committed any crime, why are you crying? Then Haridas ji started saying, I am crying at the mercy of God, how merciful he is, he has ordered you to go with me in the night. Now the whole Jagannathpuri started chanting the praises of the devotee Haridas. You will take it with you. It is said that Shri Haridas ji took Lord Jagannath ji with him in his chariot and as soon as he started departing from there, it takes at least 8 months to reach Vrindavan from Jagannathpuri, but God did a strange Leela, as soon as the night As soon as the night ended, in the morning all the devotees were present in Vrindavan near Shri Haridas ji with Deity. Everyone was surprised to see this. How did we reach Vrindavan from Jagannath Puri in one night? Shri Haridas ji said that all this is the leela of God, all this is being done by his leela. It is said that by order of Lord Jagannath, Shri Haridas ji established a huge temple of Lord Shri Jagannath at Jagannath Ghat near river Yamuna. Till now that temple is established in Vrindavan, there the Shri Vigrahas have been established, whose vision we get, Lord Jagannath himself came to Vrindavan from Puri.
