भगवान श्री राम 14 वर्ष का वनवास काट कर वापस अयोध्या लौटे । तो उनका राजतिलक हुआ और राम राज्य की स्थापना हुई । तब एक बार अगस्त्य मुनि श्री राम से मिलने के लिए अयोध्या में आए । और बातों ही बातों में लंका युद्ध के प्रसंग पर बातें होने लगी । तब अगस्त्य मुनि बोले कि– मेघनाथ को केवल लक्ष्मण जी ही मार सकते थे और किसी भी अन्य देवी , देवता के हाथों उसकी मृत्यु संभव ही नहीं थी । श्री राम जी इस रहस्य को जानते थे । परंतु वे अपने अनुज श्री लक्ष्मण की इस वीरता और त्याग को सारी अयोध्या के सामने लाना चाहते थे । ताकि घर – घर में लक्ष्मण की वीरता की बातें हो । इसलिए उन्होंने बड़े ही भोलेपन से अगस्त्य मुनि से पूछा कि हे मुनिराज , ऐसा क्यों ? कि सिर्फ लक्ष्मण ही मेघनाथ को मार सकता था । तब अगस्त्य मुनि ने कहा कि – मेघनाथ को वरदान था कि सिर्फ वही उसे मार सकता है , जिस पुरुष में ये तीन बातें हो । पहली बात – जिसने 14 वर्ष तक भोजन न किया हो , दूसरी बात – जो 14 वर्ष तक सोया ना हो और तीसरी ये कि – जिसने 14 वर्ष तक अपनी स्त्री का मुख ना देखा हो । और यह तीनों ही बातें श्री लक्ष्मण जी से मिलती हैं । तब श्री राम जी को बहुत ही आश्चर्य हुआ और और कहने लगे कि हे मुनिराज – आपकी तीसरी बात तो ठीक है क्योंकि वनवास में लक्ष्मण ने अपनी पत्नी का मुख ही नहीं देखा । किंतु पहली और दूसरी बात यह कैसे संभव हो सकता है कि लक्ष्मण ने 14 वर्ष तक भोजन नही किया और ना ही 14 वर्ष तक सोए हो । तब श्री राम ने लक्ष्मण जी को अपने पास बुलाया । और लक्ष्मण जी से पूछा कि – अगस्त्य मुनि जो कह रहे हैं , क्या यह सच है ? वनवास के समय हमे जो भी भोजन या फल और कंदमूल प्राप्त होते थें , उसके मैं तीन हिस्से करता था । और एक हिस्सा मैं तुम्हे खाने के लिए देता था । तुम फिर 14 वर्ष तक बिना खाए कैसे रह सकते हो । और 14 वर्ष तक तुम सोए भी नही । ये कैसे संभव है । तब लक्ष्मण जी बोले – भैया , अगस्त्य मुनि सच कह रहे हैं , मैंने 14 वर्ष तक कुछ नहीं खाया । क्योंकि भोजन करने के उपरांत मुझमें नींद और आलस्य की प्रवृति उत्पन्न ना हो जाए । इसलिए मैं भोजन नही करता था । क्योंकि रात्रि को भोजन के बाद नींद और आलस्य आ ही जाता है । और मुझे तो दिन और रात आपकी सेवा ही करनी थी । आपकी सेवा ही मेरा धर्म है । तो मैं कैसे नींद और आलस्य को अपने शरीर में प्रवेश करने देता । रात्रि में जब आप और सीता माता विश्राम करते थे , तब मैं आपकी कुटिया के बाहर जागकर पहरा देता था । मैंने गुरु विश्वामित्र से अपनी भूख पर नियंत्रण रखने की विद्या सीखी थी । उसी विद्या का प्रयोग करके मैंने अपनी भूख पर नियंत्रण रखा । एक बार रात्रि में पहरा देते समय निद्रा देवी ने मुझे घेर लिया था । तब मैंने निद्रा को अपने बाणों से बांध दिया । तब निद्रा देवी ने मुझे वचन दिया कि – जब तक मैं भैया श्री राम के साथ वनवास में रहूं ,तब तक मुझ पर निद्रा देवी हावी नही होंगी । इसलिए मैं 14 वर्षों तक नहीं सोया , केवल आपकी सेवा करता रहा । क्योंकि मेरे जीवन का लक्ष्य सिर्फ आपके चरणों की सेवा करना ही है और कुछ भी नहीं । लक्ष्मण की यह बात सुनकर श्री राम प्रभु की आंखों में आंसू आ गए । और यह सब सुनकर श्री राम भाव विभोर हो गए और लक्ष्मण को गले से लगा लिया । तब श्री राम बोले कि – लक्ष्मण , मैं तुम्हारा यह कर्ज कैसे उतारूंगा , तुमने तो मुझे अपना ऋणी बना लिया । इस जन्म में तुम्हारे जैसा भाई पाकर मैं धन्य हो गया । और मैं अपने हर जन्म में तुम्हे ही भाई के रुप में पाना चाहता हूं । मैं तुम्हें वचन देता हूं कि अगली बार जब मैं इस पृथ्वी पर जन्म लूंगा , तब तुम मेरे बड़े भाई के रूप में जन्म लोगे और मैं तुम्हारा छोटा भाई रहकर तुम्हारी सेवा करूंगा , तुम्हारी आज्ञा मानूंगा ।
तो भक्तों, इस दुनिया में परिवार से बढ़कर कुछ भी नहीं है परिवार का प्रेम ही सब कुछ है । भाई – भाई को आपस में प्रेम से रहना चाहिए । आपस में धन – दौलत के लिए झगड़ना नही चाहिए। एक भाई को दूसरे भाई की ताकत बनना चाहिए ।
Lord Shri Ram returned to Ayodhya after spending 14 years of exile. So he was crowned and the kingdom of Rama was established. Then once Agastya Muni came to Ayodhya to meet Shri Ram. In other words, talks started on the issue of Lanka war. Then Agastya Muni said that only Lakshman ji could have killed Meghnath and his death was not possible at the hands of any other deity. Shri Ram ji knew this secret. But he wanted to bring this bravery and sacrifice of his cousin Shri Lakshmana in front of the whole of Ayodhya. So that there should be talk of valor of Laxman in the house. That's why he very naively asked Agastya Muni that why, O Muniraj, why? That only Lakshman could have killed Meghnath. Then Agastya Muni said that – Meghnath had a boon that only he can kill him, the man who has these three things. The first thing - one who has not eaten food for 14 years, the second thing - one who has not slept for 14 years and the third thing - one who has not seen his woman's face for 14 years. And all these three things come from Shri Lakshman ji. Then Shri Ram ji was very surprised and started saying that O Muniraj – your third point is right because Lakshmana did not even see the face of his wife in exile. But first and secondly, how can it be possible that Lakshmana did not eat food for 14 years nor slept for 14 years. Then Shri Ram called Lakshman ji to him. And asked Lakshman ji that - what Agastya Muni is saying, is it true? Whatever food or fruits and tubers we used to get during the exile, I used to make three portions of it. And I used to give you a part to eat. How can you then live without eating for 14 years? And you didn't even sleep for 14 years. How is this possible? Then Lakshman ji said – Brother, Agastya Muni is telling the truth, I did not eat anything for 14 years. Because after having food, the tendency of sleepiness and laziness should not arise in me. That's why I didn't eat. Because after the meal at night sleep and laziness come. And I had to serve you day and night. Your service is my religion. So how do I allow sleep and laziness to enter my body. In the night when you and Sita Mata used to rest, I used to stand guard outside your hut. I learned the knowledge of controlling my hunger from Guru Vishwamitra. Using the same knowledge, I controlled my hunger. Once while guarding me at night, the goddess of sleep surrounded me. Then I tied sleep with my arrows. Then Nidra Devi promised me that - As long as I stay in exile with brother Shri Ram, then Nidra Devi will not dominate me. That's why I didn't sleep for 14 years, only served you. Because the goal of my life is only to serve your feet and nothing else. Hearing this from Lakshmana, tears welled up in the eyes of Lord Rama. And hearing all this, Shri Ram became very emotional and hugged Lakshmana. Then Shri Ram said - Lakshman, how will I repay this debt of yours, you have made me your indebted. I am blessed to have a brother like you in this birth. And I want to have you as my brother in every birth. I promise you that the next time I take birth on this earth, you will be born as my elder brother and I will serve you as your younger brother, obeying you.
So devotees, in this world nothing is more important than family, love of family is everything. Brother-brother should live with love among themselves. One should not fight for money and wealth. One brother should become the strength of another brother.
